General Electric’s new state-of-the-art gas engine plant will be one of the most advanced in GE’s global operations and is the first of its kind in Canada.

The plant will “combine digital technology and lean manufacturing to produce power generation machinery for global markets.”*

“GE’s ‘Brilliant Factory’ optimizes efficiency and streamlines production using data, analytics and software.”*

Angus Connect’s IMIT scope was to provide flexible structured cabling systems and supporting infrastructure, consisting of the latest shielded copper and fibre technologies, to provide a transport platform for data, voice, video and other IP-based systems.

Plant cabling design was provided per the most recent Industrial Premises standard. Working closely with GE’s IT, Security and AV groups, network-based systems were designed to the latest technology for Security (Access Control, CCTV and Intercoms), AV (telepresence) and LAN (SAN, Servers Farm).

We were involved in determining the system performance requirements of client systems, product selection, preparation of working drawings and specifications, tender preparation and response evaluation. We also actively participated in the owner’s planning meetings, performing reviews as well as providing liaison with the general contractors and sub trades.

HH Angus is also providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting and vertical transportation consulting.

Features of the plant include a main assembly and machine area, three test cells, warehouse space, paint areas, and front of house spaces such as offices, staff support, fitness centre, customer areas, hoteling for visiting customers and GE staff, conference rooms, etc.
